THE HUMAN SIDE OF THE DIVINE:  HOW THE UNIVERSE BRINGS ITSELF DOWN TO THE LEVEL OF MAN.

Alex Sprinkle

Broadly hinted at, greatly (mostly) misunderstood, even rejected by many, and with some, rejected with violence, is the concept of the Divine becoming human. This concept, hidden in obscurity due to the family of man’s incapacity to reach inward into that infinite source of Divine Wisdom, ever to be found within, has now been given new impulse to be understood and fresh opportunity to be contacted. Let us examine some of the facts from the point of view of Theosophy.

White Lotus Day

As has been our practice over the years, we will meet to commemorate the life and work of H.P. Blavatsky, who died on May 8, 1891, with readings and meditation.  We will also view a short video, “The Life of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky”.

Theosophy in the 21st Century

Michael Gomes

What is required of us as members of the Theosophical Society?  HPB addressed this and has given her predictions on the future of the movement in the last chapter of her Key to Theosophy.  Using her comments, the speaker will examine the suggestions for the work ahead for members of the Society.

The Objects Unveiled

Ed Abdill

KH once wrote: “In a word, how, once that the main objects of the T.S. are misinterpreted by those who are most willing to serve us personally, are we to deal with the rest of mankind...”  Have we misinterpreted the objects of the Society?  Tonight we will explore the three objects in an effort to unveil their hidden meaning and come to a better understanding of the true purpose of our Society.

The Older, Rugged Cross:
The Hidden History of the Swastika

Everyone who’s ever seen an Indiana Jones film is familiar with the swastika, if they know it from no other source: the sinister symbol of evil and destruction employed by the Nazi Party in Germany under Adolf Hitler.  Some know that this symbol predates Nazi use, and was previously a religious image used in Tibetan Buddhism.  But this barely scratches the surface of the swastika’s history, which reaches back at least to the Neolithic Era (late Stone Age), and can be found all around the world with a variety of meanings.  This talk will look into the complex and turbulent history of this variant of the universal symbol of the cross, and how it morphs across cultural and geographical lines and is used by many of the world’s great religious traditions.

Science & Theosophy

Mary Abdill

In our ongoing series on Science & Theosophy, we have covered topics ranging from Quantum Physics, Psychology, and Fractals to Ecology and Species Interdependence.  We will continue the format where we begin with brief contributions on topics of interest to those in attendance, followed by the main presentation of the evening.  Remembering that The Secret Doctrine is subtitled “The synthesis of Science, Religion, and Philosophy”, with “Science” listed first, we will attempt to tie in modern exact science with theosophical teachings.  There have been specific requests for presentations on the magnetic switching of the Earth’s poles and on Black Holes.  Some topics I’d also like to explore include Chaos Theory, String Theory, and topics from Biology, more Quantum Physics, and ethical living.
